I have two great non-academic passions, though my academic tendencies (obsessive reading and complex long-term projects), certainly spill over into these areas of my life!!
Animals
While I’ve always considered myself a dog person, I now share my life with three cats, five parrots, and two bunnies. They are a lot of work–and money–but they fill my life with joy and entertainment (even Dale–who is not my biggest fan… let’s just say she may have dive-bombed me more than once). Knitting
The second is knitting. I started knitting in March of 2014; during my PhD coursework, I firmly believe it saved my sanity. My favorite knitting projects are blankets–I think they make perfect gifts–but I also love lacy shawl or scarf projects. There are few evenings where I don’t unwind by pulling out my needles.
